Recipe: Urban S’mores

BTD-view-all-recipes2A weekly tradition has evolved–involving food, friends, and our favorite television show. Last week was my turn to cook, so in true form, I pounced at the chance to turn friends into guinea pigs.

As for today–when dark chocolate is accounted for, dessert comes first!

Here it is, a concoction that worked quite nicely (phew!)

Gather up
1 cup of Plugrá butter
1 cup dark brown sugar
1/2 cup white, raw sugar
2 large brown eggs
1 tablespoon sea salt
1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
1/4 cup local wildflower honey
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
1 vanilla bean
3 cups flour

70%-80% dark chocolate bar, about 1/8″ think, broken into squares

First, preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.

Next, mix together the butter, sugars and eggs

Next, mix thoroughly wthout over mixing, the following:

sea salt, cinnamon, honey, nutmeg, and contents from the scraped vanilla bean.

Next, add about 2 1/2 cups of the flour.

use the rest of the flour to coat your counter top with thin layer of flour and roll out the dough
to a consistent thickness. Between 1/8″ and 1/4″ inch will be perfect.

Transfer cut out cookies to a pan and cook for 10 minutes.

set about 1/2″ apart or more on the baking sheet

break out the marshmallows and break up the chocolate

light up the (wood burning) fireplace

share with some friends…

…and make a night of it
